Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.-
The text must use the author-date citation system and be sent using the Modelo de artigo da Defensoria Pública do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul.
- The article must be unpublished.
- It is mandatory to inform ORCID of all authors who worked on the article. Registration can be done at https://orcid.org/register. For more details, consulte o anúncio de implementação.
- People external to the institution, public defenders, civil servants, interns and other professionals in the field of law can submit articles to the journal. Texts by authors who have not yet graduated will only be accepted when co-authored with graduated professionals in any field of study, whether members of the Public Defender's Office or not. Scientific articles resulting from monographs, dissertations, theses, lectures, forensic works, statements or other works relating to legal topics and which are considered relevant by the Editorial Committee will be subject to content evaluation.
- Texts must be presented in the format of a scientific article and in the native language. Furthermore, the title, abstract and keywords must be sent in English and Spanish.
- Spelling and grammatical revisions are the responsibility of the authors, who must carry them out before sending the article for analysis. It is also necessary to verify the suitability of the document to the ABNT standards used by the magazine.
- The text must be sent in Doc format or other formats that can be edited by word processors.
- Multiple, redundant and simultaneous publications will not be accepted. Authors should not publish manuscripts that describe essentially the same content in more than one journal.
- The text must be sent in two files, one deidentified for validation and one identified for publication according to the steps indicated in the system.
- The text must follow the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Diretrizes para Autores.
Articles
"Review articles" will be published describing a literature review or state-of-the art article approved in the double blind review evaluation.
Unpublished articles that pass the double blind review evaluation will be published.
Guests
Articles by "expert" authors on subjects of interest to the Revista da Defensoria Pública do Estado RS, invited by the editors, will be published, preferably unpublished.
Interview
Interviews will be published with people with outstanding knowledge in their areas of activity and research who have scientific production, duly certified by the interviewed party and the one who conducted the interview.

Critical book review
Critical book reviews will be published according to the following rules:
1. Up to 05 pages.
2. Header: Bibliographic reference of the original work (author, title, place, publisher, year, pages).
3. Name of the author(s): written in full after the title, aligned to the left with the appropriate qualification, which must contain the HEI to which it is linked), preceded by the preposition “by”.
4. Reviews of works more than two (2) years old and manuals will not be accepted.

Copyright Notice
Once they undergo the evaluation process and have their articles published, the authors transfer the copyrights relating to such articles to the DPERS Journal.
In a specific file, as per Annex I of the published Notice, it is essential to send a signed declaration expressing awareness that the spontaneous delivery of any collaboration automatically implies the assignment of copyright to the Public Defender's Office of the State of Rio Grande do Sul and will not imply any form of remuneration to the author(s), also allowing the total or partial reproduction of the works, as long as the source is cited.
