Abstract

This article aims to demonstrate how the pandemic caused by Covid-19 scans old problems related to women selected by the Brazilian criminal justice system. It starts with the following central question: "How does the pandemic caused by Covid-19 open up problems related to women selected by the Brazilian criminal justice system?". This topic is part of an incarceration context that violates women's bodies. Therefore, methodologically, the lenses of analysis of Feminnist Criminology and the intersectional approach are mobilized, due to the centrality of gender, race and class in the criminal justice system in which these women are doubly punished: for transgressing criminal laws and for breaking with the gender roles attributed to them. Finally, it is noted that, although Recommendation nº. 62 of the CNJ enhances the guarantee of the rights of incarcerated women, the Covid-19 scans old ills of female incarceration, specially related to structural and health services problems.
